Australian schools use letters to show how well a student is doing. The system usually works like this:
• A = Excellent (85–100%)
• B = Good (70–84%)
• C = Okay (50–69%)
• D = Not enough (25–49%)
• E = Very poor (0–24%)
These grades help show students, parents, and teachers how well someone is learning. In Years 11 and 12, these grades are also used to help calculate the ATAR, which is needed for university.
