In Years 7 and 8, students have to take all the main subjects. In Years 9 and 10, they can usually choose 1 or 2 subjects they like, such as drama, cooking, or art. In Years 11 and 12, students can choose more freely. They must take English, but they can pick 5 or 6 other subjects that fit their plans for the future. These can be science subjects, history, art, languages, business, or job-related subjects like tourism or construction. The subjects they choose help decide their ATAR, which is important for going to university.
